We rallied the community, including the school district, churches, and key community members, to collect toiletries for the displaced youth in our county.

What We Did and How It Helped
We learned that there were 64 homeless youth (displaced youth) in our school district. So, first we did research on what it meant to be homeless, what the risks were, and why and how we needed to help them. We created a PowerPoint presentation and an iMovie on are cell phones to rally the community. Our friends from school helped us too. We presented to our church youth group, and they chose to participate too. One of our friends wanted to share with their Girl Scout Troop too. We shared with key community leaders, and our project took off. We had a local 5K get involved and the school district. The superintendent shared the project with all 16 schools’ principals and invited them to get involved too. A local nonprofit, Effingham Family Connection helped with the efforts too. We made boxes and collected donations throughout all of the county. We asked for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, deodorant, laundry detergent, etc.
